Hard question. I think Benedict does great choices when he choose his roles. I love the way he change to fit in some character like to Hawking to Assange. Fictional characters are hard too, but they live only in our mind because we’ve read the books and they can change a little bit when they become real.
Well, I’m quite a Jane Austen’s fan and if I could pick a role to Ben, I would say Mr Darcy. I love the BBC version and the movie, but having my Benny as Darcy would put me on my knees. Before I “met” BC, I already had someone like him in my mind as Fitzwilliam. Austen’s my favorite writer and matching her universe with my idol…it would be flawless.
I also think Ben can play very different people in many universes, he has a lot of works that can prove this. So I’d love to see him as Winston Smith in 1984 because is an important and relevant book to our society. Besides, I would go crazy if Ben had a role in a romantic comedy.
However, if I could pick a role already played for him, I would say Chrissie. I love Chrissie, I really do. I know Parade’s End book is kinda different, but I loved BBCs version. Ben made a soft but strength character who try to change a little bit his society. I love the way he looks at Valentine and how he treats his possibly son. Even he doesn’t know the truth, he still treats the kid as his boy.
