so i met that guy today…

it was the most amazing thing i’ve ever experienced in my whole life. the waiting, the watching, the excitement. i cannot actually believed it happened, that he was there, smiling, and with his arm around me.

when i went to get my photo, i went in and he said hello, and i was dumb struck. he is so different to how you think of him as sherlock, or even in interviews as himself. his voice is softer and he’s shorter than you think he would be. but he’s just as kind and sweet and genuine as he’s said to be. i asked if he could point, and he said “yeah, of couse,” chucking his arm around my shoulders and tucking in close. i left after, saying thank you, and that’s when i started crying. it was so overwhelming, but i got a big cheer when i left the booth.

when getting my autograph, after standing in line for almost three hours, i handed him my photo and he grinned at me. he said my name and started writing and i plucked up the courage to tell him. i told him that because of him, i got through hard times that i didn’t think i could get through. he looked up at me and smiled, and he told me that i could get through anything if i believed i could, he believed i could. i told him to enjoy hamlet next year and he told me he would. i started crying again after that.

to have benedict cumberbatch tell me that he believes in me, that he thinks i can get through anything, meant more to me than the photos and the money and the novelty of meeting him. even though i was just another fan, to have him say that, already, has made me feel stronger after everything i’ve been through.
